The Leitz 5cm f2 Summar is a manual focus, standard focal length lens introduced in 1932 for Leica M39 rangefinder cameras. At the time of its introduction it was the top-of-the-line lens both for its speedy f2 maximum aperture as well as overall performance. It is known for being a sharp lens with good contrast despite its lack of lens coatings. All versions of the 5cm f2 are collapsible, so when not in use the lens retracts into the body of the camera making your kit that much smaller and portable. Even though the Summar was eventually replaced by the Summitar, the Summar is still a great lens for Leica users to this day.
